Beyond the Lesson was designed to tap into the deeper thoughts of educators who have accepted the responsibility of educating children. This book is not written to tell educators what they do not know. It is written to shine light on the things they face every day, the things they may not have had time to fully examine, and the emotional weight that comes with shaping young minds. Educators are often given a great deal of flack for what people believe they do not do, but they are not always given enough praise for how our children turn out in the end. The truth is, educators are not simply teaching lessons. In many cases, they are redesigning mindsets, breaking down unhealthy habits, reshaping behavior, and helping children become who they are still learning how to be. This work goes beyond books, assignments, and classroom instruction. Educators are often the first coaches children meet before they ever step onto a field or court. They coach discipline. They coach patience. They coach communication. They coach self-control. They coach confidence. They coach children through frustration, disappointment, fear, anger, confusion, and growth. At the same time, educators are people too. They have their own lives, their own responsibilities, their own emotional battles, and their own moments of exhaustion.
